Hello and welcome, thank you so much for joining me on the podcast today. I am very nervous. I have to be honest, but super excited to start this new challenge in my life. And as scary as it is, it's so exciting to be able to jump in the ears of some of the new people into my world to help them grow their business as well. So I thought I'd jump on and do this first episode as a bit of an introduction to myself. If we haven't met in person before, I thought I'd just sort of give you a bit of a rundown on who I am and what I do.

So as I said, my name's Amanda, and along with my hubby Nath, I've owned a children's dance studio for coming up on 22 years, which is such a long time. I've also owned a tutoring company for the last six years that we run hand in hand with our studio.

You know, our studio started when I was just 16 years old, so it was just me at the time. And with just 30 students. I had been working at another dance studio for a few years and I heard that he was going to close.

So at 16, I talked my parents into taking on and buying the studio for me at the time that I obviously had to pay them back for, as well as signing a lease, which is pretty scary for. I was just 16 at the time and still in high school and I have worked so hard to grow this

into a multi-million dollar business. We have over 800 students currently in a dance studio that take more than two and a half thousand classes every single week in our business. We then have an additional 100 in our tutoring company as well.

And as well as running my studio and our tutoring company, I also have started to focus more of my efforts on our company, raise the bar where I get to work with children's activity. Business owners like you. Hopefully that, you know, want to enroll more students into their classes, get more profit and put more of that profit into their back pocket. Build a better lifestyle and build the business of their dreams that works for them. Everyone has a different version of the business of their dreams. For some, it might be a multimillion dollar company with a huge revenue and a big team and lots of students.

For others, it might just be, you know, a good wage and freedom and a better lifestyle...whatever that is. I really hope that on this podcast and on on this journey together, we can help you build that business that's right, just for you. So as I said, I am so excited to be able to share the tips and tricks I've learned over the last 22 years with you all and every two weeks, I'll be releasing a podcast with practical, actionable tips.

And for those that know me already, you know that I am light on the fluff. Most definitely, I am pretty get down to business kind of gal and with the podcast, my aim is to be heavy on the action and actionable steps that you can take that very day that will help you build your business.

Occasionally, I'll also bring on some amazing guests to help inspire you to grow and improve your business as well. And you know, I want you to come away every single episode feeling inspired to actually take the action and do something that day to help build your business.

So what sets me apart from other amazing podcasters in this area because there are some phenomenal podcasts around a whole heap of different children's activity businesses that I love listening to through two as well? And you know, I think what sets me apart is that I've taken my studio through every stage of growth and all of my major life events as well. You know, I've started the business from scratch at a super young age and watched it grow from a hobby at the time because I didn't really need the money at 16, to a real grown up proper job.

You know, I've built the business to a point where it's our family's sole source of income. My husband works full time for me as well, which is something that not a lot of businesses in our in our space actually achieve.

I have successfully navigated from, you know, owning the business by myself before kids and having all the time in the world to invest in my baby. At the time, my business was my absolute baby. But now I'm a mom of three super busy.

My three girls are my absolute lights of my life as anyone that has children would know. But they take up a lot of time. So I've been able to navigate that transition where I can't be in my business at all times.

I now have managers and an amazing team that really help me run this business. You know, I've expanded through multiple locations. We started in a super small space, which was still very scary for a 16 year old to take on that lease.

We've moved to, you know, bigger new spaces that we had built before we went all in. I'm talking all in, you know, millions of dollars into a big f$&k off of scary commercial property that we moved into six or seven years ago to expand to our second location.

We then went all in again three years ago, where we invested enough another $200,000 to do a huge renovation to take our premises to this epic twelve zero square meter studio space and combine locations back into one big, happy home.

It's been a big journey. I've managed small teams. When we first started, it was me and, you know, one or two other teachers to now a very large team. And, you know, my team is phenomenal. I could not do it without my team, and I'm sure so many business owners feel that way.

We have a big team, we have a leadership team, we have managers of lots of different departments. We have full time staff. We have trainees and then we have casual staff as well, as well as my husband working for me.

So we have a really big team that, you know, really is the heart and soul of our businesses. And over the last two years since starting raised the bar, I've been able to help a whole heap of incredible other business owners in a whole range of children's activities enroll more students and, you know, help them build that business, as I said, of their dreams.
